Called To Serve Him: Week 99 - Remain in the Light

Stake conference weekends are great aren't they? It's so nice to gather together as a stake and feel the strength and protection that comes from one another. It sounds like those who have attended their Stake Conferences have had great experiences and taken great things from the words that were shared.

We had some technical difficulties during our conference with the sound. It began with no sound in the gym but ended up losing sound in the chapel as well - possibly as they tried to fix the sound that went out in the gym. I don't think speakers knew that we couldn't hear. We watched the screen as the speaker and the translator gave the talk, threw some jokes and laughed with one another but nobody else did because they couldn't hear them. haha. It looked like a fun game of charades. Luckily a group of young adults sang a number and then the sound was fixed so we were able to hear from the speakers!

Our week was filled with many conferences. 2 days of stake conferences and 1 temple conference. We had a lot of opportunities to speak with people on trains. I've come to the conclusion that people are amazingly interesting. There are so many different types of people and they do things that we have maybe never heard about.

The work is going well. We're trying and trying to help others continue to find joy in making promises and aren't going to give up. It's been sometimes hard when you find people and they have this light in their eyes when you leave but don't see that light the next time you see them, or they disappear and you don't get the chance to see that light in their eyes again. The good news that is brought about the world is indeed something that is not fictional. The trick that I've seen on my mission is always remembering what you've experienced and being ready for the things that try to convince you otherwise.

Sometimes we feel like we’re left in the dark and we wait for light when we have the ability to move forward and to find the light. Why wait around when you can move forward looking for it? Sometimes we find some light and are focused and determined to follow it but something catches our attention and we look away for a moment. This moment can lead us to become fixated and lose focus on the light and put our focus on the unknown in the darkness. Oh how important it is that we remain in the light that has been given to us and not be tricked by the light made by man which will end up leaving us in darkness because we use batteries and other sources of energy that will indeed eventually go out. God gives us enough light to move forward and part of receiving light is taking a step in what we feel is darkness but that's how we put trust in God. We think, we ponder, we pray and we strive to determine what God would want of us and then we take a step in the dark. As we these things, we will be lead to the light and sometimes even a greater light. How great it feels to seek to understand Gods will and then take a step out of darkness into His light. What does He want to give me right now and what can I do to help accept it?

Antwerpen got really cold this past week! We got the weather that usually comes in November! I hope it warms up!
